In November 2009, one out of ten Cincinnati homeowners was at risk of losing their home. One of them was Robert. He watched CET and saw the Foreclosure Prevention Phone-a-Thon. Through the help he got, he was able to keep his home.

Communities United For Action

Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray is now a confirmed guest at Communities United For Action’s open meeting on Saturday, so anyone who is struggling to pay their mortgage, is a victim of a foreclosure rescue scam or over their head with the Payday lenders should come to to hear what Congressman Steve Driehaus and Attorney General Richard Cordray are doing at the federal and state levels and share your opinions on what should be done. The meeting will be at 9 a.m. to Noon on Saturday December 5th. The continental breakfast and registration begin at 8:30 a.m. at the North Presbyterian Church at 4222 Hamilton Avenue. Helping People in Danger of Foreclosure

The report from the third Foreclosure Prevention Program, presented by CET in partnership with The Home Ownership Center and other organizations, shows that the number of people seeking help to keep their homes continues to rise. Here’s a report on the people who were helped during the October 14-16 event. Two veterans who were helped by the program participate and tell their stories.

Foreclosure Prevention Phone-A-Thon - October 2009

A discussion between several home ownership and foreclosure specialists, as well as experienced lenders who have expert advise on how homeowners can avoid foreclosure and establish manageable mortgage payments. Carla Leader, from Legal Aid, advises on how to avoid foreclosure scams and a representative from the Home Ownership Center discusses what documents you need to gather and complete when faced with foreclosure. Also, a homeowner shares her personal experiences facing foreclosure.

Foreclosure Prevention Phone-A-Thon

Here is an opportunity for Greater Cincinnati homeowners who fear they are at risk for foreclosure, have a drop in income or anything that concerns them about their ability to pay their mortgage, to begin the process for help with a phone call.

Foreclosure experts are on hand in CET’s studio to take calls through Friday, October 16. The toll-free number for getting trusted assistance is: 1-877-7 BUZZ US (1-877-728-9987). Also, on Thursday, October 15, CET, WVXU and WMUB will simulcast a live program featuring experts from the Federal Reserve Bank, Home Ownership Center, and Legal Aid. They will discuss various aspects of the mortgage crisis, including how to work with your lender in times of fiscal crisis.

Making Home Affordable Press Conference Oct 2, 2009

During a press conference held 10/2/2009 at CET, elected officials, including U.S. Treasurer Rosa Rios, Rep. Steve Driehaus, Mayor Mark Mallory and Hamilton County Commissioner David Pepper, and representatives from various national and community organizations came together to announce the foreclosure prevention activities taking place around Greater Cincinnati in October.

Activities include education of local foreclosure prevention counselors on The Making Home Affordable program, a three day Foreclosure Prevention Phone-a-Thon beginning on October 14, and an opportunity for Phone-a-Thon callers to have a scheduled face-to-face meeting with their lender or counselor.
