The Home Ownership Center is a private, non-profit partnership of businesses, residents and government that provides foreclosure avoidance counseling as well as helping individuals prepare for, buy and maintain a home. Home loan officers provide free training and consultation regarding home appraisal and the mortgage loan process.

This is a FREE and confidential service. HOME serves the Greater Cincinnati Metropolitan Area, including communities within the counties of Hamilton, Butler, Clermont and Warren, Ohio, and Campbell, Kenton, and Boone, Kentucky. HOME works to help homeowners in Hamilton County avoid foreclosure and predatory lending. The HOME Foreclosure Prevention Program is staffed by individuals experienced in mortgage lending that provide negotiation services with lenders, objective advice on refinancing and possible access to government emergency mortgage assistance funding.

The Better Housing League of Greater Cincinnati (BHL) is a non-profit organization that specializes in foreclosure prevention counseling. Through intensive case management-type counseling, that includes working with both loan services and their customers, as well as emergency mortgage assistance, BHL strives to keep families in their homes.

BHL counselors are HUD certified and have NeighborWorks Certification.

The NID-HCA default/foreclosure-counseling program to date has a 95% success rate in avoiding client lose of property due to foreclosure (without the client filing a bankruptcy). NID-HCA works with your lender to negotiate the best terms available for all parties involved. NID-HCA will discuss extensively with the client issues such as, how to avoid foreclosure, options to foreclosure, communicating with your lender/service, renegotiating your loan terms, managing your debt and re-establishing your credit.

NID provides HUD approved counseling.

The Save the Dream website is a comprehensive resource that offers answers to many typical foreclosure-related questions, how to recognize predatory (deceptive) lending practices, steps in the foreclosure process along with a timeline showing what you can expect and when, rental information relating to a renter’s rights during foreclosure, details on how to work with your mortgage servicer, mediation, and local, state and federal resources.

SmartMoney Community Service offers financial services and education and homeownership training. The Financial Education Program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to achieve economic self-sufficiency.

The SmartHome Ownership Workshop is a free six-week course that educates potential first-time homebuyers on the various aspects of purchasing a home, such as money management, the role of the realtor, finding the right house, choosing a mortgage and other related topics. SmartHome Pre-Purchase Counseling sessions take a more in-depth look at factors affecting a homebuying decision such as basic budgeting and clearing up derogatory credit.
